Healthy hot chocolate (vegan)

Healthy hot chocolate (vegan)

Here’s my version of the popular drink (without all the sugar and processed ingredients!) that is packed with amazing ingredients, such as cinnamon, honey and cacao, of course.

Cacao is full of health benefits that include improving heart health, fighting off aging, and may even help you lose weight! It also has NO sugar or fat. Cacao is rich in antioxidants that absorb free radicals (that come from pollution and toxins in our environment), which cause cell and tissue damage and can lead to diseases such as cancer. Cacao is also the highest plant-based source of magnesium - magnesium is important for a healthy heart, and helps turn glucose into energy, enabling your brain to work with clarity and focus. Cacao has also been shown to provide some positive effects on mood and symptoms of depression by reducing stress levels and improving calmness, and overall psychological well-being.

Here’s the step-by-step recipe to naturally energize your day.

INGREDIENTS
  • Cacao powder

  • Oat milk (or preferred nut milk)

  • Himalayan sea salt

  • Raw honey (or agave if vegan)

  • Cinnamon

  • Nutmeg

  • Turmeric (optional)

DIRECTIONS
  1. Place the cacao powder in cold milk so that it can dissolve fully. Mix until you get rid of all the pockets of cacao.

  2. Add honey, cinnamon and nutmeg to the cold milk. Add a pinch of sea salt. Mix all together.

  3. Warm all up for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Place in favorite mug once warm.

  5. Sprinkle with turmeric (optional).
