3 ingredient matcha latte (vegan)

3 ingredient matcha latte (vegan)

I’ve been dubbed the Matcha Queen at work and with good reason… it seems as though matcha runs in my veins 90% of the time I’m awake. I gave up coffee quite some time ago because it would upset my stomach and make me too anxious, but I still wanted a delicious go-to drink in the mornings, or for my afternoon pick-me-up. I turned to matcha, powdered green tea leaves. I love the creamy sweet flavor and knowing that I’m giving my body something that’s fueling it, in a healthy way.

What’s so great about it? Its consumption is associated with lower rates of heart attacks, strokes, and premature death, proven in randomized, controlled trials to prevent precancerous colon polyps from developing, and precancerous prostate lesions from turning into full-blown cancer. Matcha is probably the healthiest way to drink green tea, since you’re drinking it as a whole food.

It’s also packed with antioxidants that may reduce cell damage and prevent chronic disease, it enhances brain function (attention, reaction time, and memory), and helps speed up your metabolism. All this with only 1/3 the caffeine of coffee! Matcha contains L-Theanine, a natural calming agent that works with the caffeine to provide what's described as a calm, focused and happy energy versus the jittery anxious feeling coffee gives you. It’s truly a magical tea.
