Healthy items at Trader Joe’s May 28 Written By Sofia Hernandez Vegan butter The Miyoko’s vegan butter has an amazing consistency and taste - it’s just as good as real butter! PopcornMy guilt-free go-to snack. Sprinkle some nutritional yeast and coconut aminos on it (both also available at Trader Joe’s)! Beet crackersI love these little crackers with some hummus. They contain flax seeds, which are loaded with nutrients (protein, fiber, omega-3s). Nutritional yeastThis is an “alternative” to cheese - it does not melt but provides that salty flavor cheese does. It’s great for pastas, tacos, and on popcorn. Pitted datesLove these with almond butter. They also satisfy a sweet tooth. Raw almond butter Delicious in oatmeal, on toast, on fruit, or as a spoonful when energy levels are low. Traders offers a lot of nut butters - I like this one the best, it has a great creamy consistency. Coconut aminosI use this as a soy sauce substitute. It’s gluten-free and full of aminos. It’s delicious on veggies. Vegetable brothGreat base for soups. I also use when cooking rice or quinoa for some added flavor. Organic greensI love that Traders has stepped up their game when it comes to organic produce. I always grab a bag of spinach (to add into smoothies), and some arugula for my salads (topped with an olive oil & lemon vinaigrette). Frozen berriesI always have a bag of these in my freezer. During a heatwave, I blend a few berries with ice and oat milk for a healthy dessert, or I throw some in a smoothie. I choose the organic version. TahiniThis is a great base for sauces and dressings. My go-to is a spoonful of tahini, juice from 1/2 lemon, sea salt, pepper and paprika to top my veggies. Green JuiceThis is a good substitute if you don’t have time to make your own, or don’t feel like spending $15 on a juice. Filled with deliciousness (and all organic!). The size is perfect too! Beware: it is a bit bitter. Sofia Hernandez
